Cant read files created on Mac with pre-Sierra numbers?

The newest version with collaboration sounds enticing except that it cant seem to open any documents that I had created on my MacBook and stored in iCloud Drive. Its also less than obvious how to share folders with people.

And the new "feature" that files are only downloaded when they are needed really makes it impossible to work on those occasions where there is no internet (admittedly rare, but still annoying).

Honestly, although I think numbers is innovative in many ways and fun to use on mobile devices, I wouldnt really trust it for much, especially with the iCloud integration. Hoping the initial bugs with collaboration get ironed out as I would love to be able to share simple spreadsheets with my family.
